Tutorial: How to publish your first news article

1. This tutorial shows you just how easy it is to publish a news article on your team's website. Like all tasks in the ellistonSPORT admin area, we have taken the complexity out of doing common tasks making updating your website a quick and easy process. On submitting the information you provide in the forms for example when creating a new news article, the homepage of your website will be automatically updated with the new content - No programming required!

2. In your web browser go to the address of your site. In this tutorial the demo ellistonSPORT site will be used as an example but the same steps apply for your website.

3. Log into your website using your admin username and password and then click the "Login" button.

4. Enter the admin area by click on the "Admin Area" link as usual.

5. Once in your website's admin area, click on the link titled "News" located on the navigation menu on the left hand side of the page. A page similar to the image below should appear listing the news articles currently on the site. Click on the link "Add New Article".

6. On the next page which appears you will see there is a form prompting you to enter numerous bits of information regarding the new article. The first of which is the title of the article. This is the eye-catching heading which appears in bold text on the homepage of your site.

7. The next section title "Story" is the actual content of the article. As you can see there is a large text area containing a range of word processing tools allowing you to edit your article's font sizes, colours, alignment, add bullet points atc.

8. Once you have written your article, the next step is to enter the name of the author. This will be automatically published at the bottom of the article on your team's website.

9. The next step allows you to assign your news article with a photo. This section is optional so if you haven't got a photo do not worry. All photos are resized automatically by our software. A small thumbnail is created as well as a suitably sized larger photo. You also have the option of making the news article "Top Story" on your website, this will help to make it stand out to visitors on your site. If you assign a photo with an article and set it to be "Top Story", be sure that the size of the image is less than 1.5MB and the width of the image is larger than 360 pixels for suitable auto-resizing on the homepage. Please note, photos with widths less than 360 pixels can not be stretched to fit on the homepage.

10. To publish the article on your team's website, click on the button titled "Create News Article". This will re-direct you back to the home of the News section in the admin area where you should see the article you have just published in the list. Here you can click on the icons "Show", "Edit" or "Delete" for any particular article to make changes once it has been published. Once you have finished working in the admin area simple click on the button situated at the bottom of the navigation menu on the left titled "Log Out". This will take you back to the homepage of your site where you will notice your website's content has been updated automatically with a nice new news article.
